The Texas chainsaw massacre review( 1974)

‎Today I felt brave enough to watch this having heard of its notoriety over the years. What the hell did I just watch? This has to be one of the most disturbing and violent (though not actually gory) movie I have seen but morbid curiosity prevented me from hitting the off button. Seriously it was like living a nightmare, very brutal and raw walking on the edge of sanity. There cannot be people like this living in the world...at least I hope not. Ok take a deep breath...it was just a movie. Horror movies are no longer made like this and I think I know why. Reason being is that the audience needs to see and have some kind of hope and this film TOTALLY ignores that rule. I was fascinated and scared out of my wits of the family shown here in fact I now regret having watched this. Normally I would find some plus points to a film (human centipede is an exemption) but this...I don't know. Nice camera work maybe? Yes Tobe Hooper was an up and coming director in the mid 70s and my guess is that he proved his originality and willingness of making powerful movies with this film and that led him to be noticed by bigger studios and producers. I cant with good conscience recommend this film but will say that it is a very powerful movie and will have a profound effect on whoever watches it. It did so on me.
