Alien double bill review

When this film came out I was too young to go see it in cinema. However,  I did peek through an open door and see bits and pieces of it when my dad hired it out (VHS...remember those?) A decision I immediately regretted as I had nightmares for weeks afterwards. Of course as I grew older and wiser, watching said film again...I grew to appreciate it and watched it many times over the years. I also upgraded the films from different editions to different formats (trying to get laser disc of all films now). Finally along came a blu ray edition that included almost everything from previous editions and the picture quality was beyond anything I had seen before. Still I wanted to see one if not all "alien" films on the BIG screen. On 26th of April my wish somewhat came true: Cineworld cinema were doing a showing of the first two "alien" films. I had already seen the entertaining but disappointing "alien resurrection" in cinema so seeing the first two as well would be a plus. Anyway, went to the cinema and bought myself an ample supply of popcorn and other munchies as this was going to be a 4 hour plus marathon. Truth be told; the first film was more to my liking than the second one (still sat through both  films) and I guess that it was because it focused more on the building up of suspense. Second film was entertaining but couldn't compare to the first. All in all I was glad that I got to experience these two iconic films on the big screen and am hoping that there will be more special screening of classic films in the near future ("event horizon"...you listening cineworld??).  Only the third film is left for me to see on the big screen but I am not really fussed if I do see it or not as that film was not up to scratch.
