A bittersweet life review

How to start this review? Lemme see now...uh...the most basic thing I can come up with is to compare it to “oldboy”. The story although not as deep but does go for a more straightforward pure revenge theme. But this does not make the movie less enjoyable? I don't think so. The film is as shallow as the pools of blood splattered in the wake of the main protagonists gun battles which are reminiscent of the film “scarface” and the action throughout the film is fast, bloody and brutal and what follows goes way beyond honour and vengeance and is guaranteed to leave you on the edge of your seat; breathless.  Ji-woon Kim's movie has all the marks of originality, intellectual challenge and superb visual style hailed by the possibility of a brave new voice in Korean cinema.
