Midnight run review

"Midnight run" is a rare gem of a movie which upon its release was sadly overlooked. Make no mistake, this is a very funny film which (to this day) has some of the best one liners ever written and what makes it really work is the timing and delivery and the way they are said or rather snarled out. Comedies nowadays try to be clever but the vast majority of these fall flat on their faces and end up being shallow and uninspiring but not this one. Masterfully written and expertly executed, not just funny as hell but also an action movie; the duo of Robert De Nero and Charles Grodin really set the screen alight with their chemistry. The supporting cast is also of worthy mention of which Dennis Farina, a mob boss played to perfection and Joe Pantoliano, a hilarious yet sometimes clueless bail-bondsman. Very strong language throughout but it doesn't feel tacked on or overdone and is of comedic value. Every writer/director should blend this in a mixer and have this as an inspirational shake. A film not to be missed.
