Blended review

A good family comedy film and a very underrated one. Although this didn't get very good reviews overall, the chemistry and comedy of the duo Sandler/Barrymore actually works. OK so it is extremely predictable in places and not really anything we haven’t seen before but for what it is; it makes for fun viewing. In the past some of Sandlers movies were anything but personal missions to destroy civilisation with vomit-inducing blend of sentimentality and dead-on-arrival humour, but miracles do happen and he gets it right in this one. The addition of Terry Crews with his quirky attempt at humour is a welcome relief to what could have been a very upsetting roller-coaster ride. The likeable Barrymore is funny but has in the past been more of a comedian. I say that this is a family comedy because it has enough gags and going-ons for both adults and children alike. So go see it but do not expect too much from it.
