Once upon a time in the west review

Wow...just wow. A perfect way to sum up a movie such as this and cold leave it at that. My reviews may be short but not that short so lets find out if I can do this film justice. Sergio Leone best known for his “spaghetti western” trilogy (for a few dollars more, fistful of dollars and the good and the bad and the ugly) had in fact made two more western movies namely “fistful of dynamite” and “once upon a time in the west”. The latter of the two; unlike the temperament of brutality of the trilogy films, “once upon a time” has the benefit of having emotions involved within the story. I was lucky enough to have caught this on late night TV and most definitely will be adding the DVD to my Leone collection soon. Having done some digging I did come across an interesting fact that while many people consider this to be an addition to the “trilogy” it is actually the first of its own trilogy namely “once upon a time in the west, once upon a time in America and once upon a time in the revolution AKA fistful of dynamite or duck you sucker”. Deliberately paced like watching paint dry with the emotional impact of nails raked across a board, it does make for a very interesting and intriguing viewing and not once do you feel like grabbing the remote to hit fast forward. They sure don't make movies like this nowadays. You owe yourself to see this and for an even better experience I would suggest watching it with a full surround set-up and volume on max as it sounds that good: each character has his or her own music and the dialogue is exquisite. Cannot emphasize enough on how good of a movie this is...you just have to experience it for yourself. even though Eastwood is nowhere to be seen Charles Bronson fills the role of the mysterious stranger and adds his own elements to the character.
