Apocalypto review

Is time travel possible? The answer is a solid no but this film is likely to be as close as possible we will ever come to time travel. The fabrication surrounding "Mel Gibson's Apocalypto" on its release was just that ...fabrication of being the most violent film ever. It is in fact a very real statement made about the human condition and what we are capable of. Yes the movie is violent  but the violence is intertwined into the story and is a realistic part of the culture being described here. We get to see semi-realistic portrayal of the Mayan culture including the strangeness of their dress and idea of fashion jewellery\body piercings. The characters shown grow on you and we come to care about what happens to them which, considering that Gibson cast actors with a little to no acting experience is no small feat. Rounding it up; this film will appeal to both psychological viewers and action junkies. Don't be taken in by all the hype and rumours abound about this film and give it a chance its worth it.
Quick update: Forgot to mention that the feature is subtitled but don't let that put you off as the subtitles are so easy and simple to read that you forget they are even there (I know I did).
