Casino review

Move over "goodfellas", you've got competition nay a better film from the same director prancing about. With two returning heavy hitting (De Nero and Pesci) actors this film is a masterpiece. Director Martin Scorsese's films are always note worthy and "casino" is no exception. Mimicking his pseudo-documentary style of "goodfellas" this movie is NOT a follow-on rather a more gritty, gory and a more intelligent take on the gangster/mob genre. While "goodfellas" view was more of ground-level telling of a story of blue collared gangsters of New York, this film tells the story of the guys who controlled those guys and it makes for fascinating viewing to watch these people who ran Las Vegas for a time and hadcontrol of wealth and power only to fall from the heights due to their lust, hubris and greed. Deniro is a very good actor and this movie hammers down that fact portraying him as a very powerful man through his image and dialogue. Not to be outshone, Joe Pesci also does a remarkable job as does Sharon Stone. A complex as well as multi-layered and beautifully directed film and is a masterpiece story telling of destruction and betrayal. "Casino" is an excellent movie that stands almost equal to "godfather" and should be seen by everyone only let this film stand on its own rather than comparing it to others of the same genre.
