Finally got around to watching this and here's my take on it. The trailer for this film really got my hopes up and after watching it, have been bought down to earth like after a sugar rush high. Why am I using metaphors when am meant to keep it simple (DUH). OK, what I mean is that the film was hyped a bit too much before it's release; not to say that it wasn't enjoyable (and it was) just that it misused the "dracula" name. "How" you might ask? Well let me explain with a brief background history. Everyone knows by now (if you don't, you've been living under a rock) that Bram Stoker based his fictional vampire dracula on the Romanian prince Vlad Tepes from the mid 15 century. You can do your own research if you want to find out more about prince Vlad. So in wrapping up, this film portrays dracula as prince Vlad Tepes as most of his countrymen see him and the version of dracula we have all come to know is here as an afterthought. However, this is not a documentary...far from it. It's still a fictional piece and an entertaining one at that. Still it comes (to me anyway) as a far cry from Stoker's dracula. Watch with an open mind.
