A look back at American pie trilogy

Over the past few days I decided to re-visit these three films and to be honest, it was like visiting an old friend. Not to say that my school days were like this or anything (well the joking around was kind of similar but not as extreme as this) but it did bring back some nostalgic memories. This was my introduction to new age teenage wackiness movies ‎and unlike movies of a similar nature (porky, animal house to name a few), the jokes were taken to the limit. This was the original trilogy of teenage antics movies that led to a floodgate of copycat movies: some good ones and some rip-your-eyeballs-out awful ones but one thing was clear for all to see...the wackiness was never surpassed. They also inspired four direct to DVD sequels which failed to have the humour of the original trilogy. There was a fifth sequel believed to be  a follow up to the third film(or a part 4 if you will)  titled "American reunion" and was actually quite good and a worthy successor to the originals. You would think that the appeal of these three (four) films would have lost its impact over time and maybe that holds true for some but as for me that isn't the case and I still enjoyed all four movies as much as my seeing it for the first time in the cinema with my friends.
