American ultra review

‎Can't believe that this is what new age cinema has become. I would call it a boring piece of entertainment. Maybe it just wasn't my kind of film (I expect some story be it good, bad or unrealistic) or maybe I just was feeling jaded when I saw this...I dunno. What I found wrong was; well everything I guess. The cast was uninspiring and had NO chemistry to speak of, be it the lead (who were the ultimate of unlikeable) or the supporting cast. I did however enjoy Topher Grace's portrayal of the bad guy. Who knows with a different cast this might have been a better film. Even my friend who went with me didn't utter a word except to ask for another coke: come to think of it the whole cinema was pin drop silent...not a single chuckle or anything. What I gathered from the poster was that it was some kind of genetic experiment gone wrong turning teens into four armed killers. (how wrong I was). Because of a miscalculation we showed up at the cinema early and had to sit through the trailers of upcoming films (which I hate doing). Actually it was a good thing we did as the movie took "so bad it's good" to a whole new level and the trailers were the best thing about the whole thing. I did you tube the trailer of said film after and guess what, it's actually more entertaining than the entire movie. After the film was over I've never seen the theatre empty so fast it was like the people couldn't wait for the film to end (I know we couldn't). In a nutshell I'd say it was a waste of time and money but weirdly enough: kind of entertaining. If you're looking for comedic elements with a mix of action...this is not it.
