Razor blade smile review

To vamp or not to vamp, that is the question. Laughable as this picture is it is still a very bold attempt at making a film that breaks from the stereotypical idea of vampires burned to us on celluloid. Even more amusing was the fact that the person who sold me this was making out that it was the best vampire movie since...oh I dunno; sliced bread maybe? Hard as it was to maintain a straight face while listening to this guy I thought "if he's going through so much effort to convince me why not give this a day in court": I mean...like what's the worst that could happen? So yeah, came home and popped the DVD into the player and sat down with a bowl of popcorn and a diet coke. The opening of the film (first minute) grabbed my attention with a line I haven't heard in ANY other vampire movies. Would I be justifying this film if I said it was all downhill from there? ...well that is a fine line blurring the positive with the negative so let me just say that I enjoyed it for the cheesiness. The acting was laughable at best but the actors were also suited to their roles and you could tell they had a good time making this. I must say that kudos to MANGA ENTERTAINMENT for securing the distribution rights and they have a good eye for the weird and wonderful no matter what the budget (shoestring for this}. Anyway, the lead female vampire played by Eileen Daly (looking good for a 45+ year old) who for some reason deemed it important to reveal her fangs at any opportune moment but makes you forget that minor niggle by wearing a very provocative cat suit. Like I said before, The cast must have had a blast while making this movie and the twist at the end of it makes it a worthwhile watch. This is a film to be seen when in a humorous state of mind and for the cheese factor. Enjoyable.
