The hateful eight review

Some people have all the luck in the world and such was the case with Quentin Tarantino.  Being interested in storytelling and films from an early age, he went on to write and direct some of the most gut-wrenching films put onto celluloid. Enough of the history lesson: his latest feature "the hateful  eight" is as good as if not better than his other films. The closest comparison I can make is with the film "inglorious basterds". Both films start out slow but the difference is that this one remains slow and when I say slow....I mean SLOOOOWWW! Seriously, if you don't have any caffeine to hand and other munches then it's a challenge to sit through. Coming in at a runtime of just over three hours; you'd be hard pressed to sit through it anyway. As it is said..."patience is a virtue" and it is for most of us as some people didn't really like the movie (but I loved it). Cast list is top notch as always with Tarantino films but I would say that Tim Roth trying to do his best impersonation of Christoph Waltz as he was in "inglorious Basterds" comes off as "trying too hard" and even tacky giving Roth exactly the kind of feedback he doesn't need.  Also this "theatrical drama" is Tarantino's most simple story to date and is worth watching in Imax in full 70mm glory to take in the full effect of the landscapes. The music is no slouch either as it is done by none other than the maestro himself Ennio Morricone. Lastly if you were to go see this in the mindset of a theatre play it might entertain you all  the more.
