EXTE, hair extensions review

Japan has a unique eye for the weird (and dare I say...the wonderful) films and this is no exception. Director Shion Sono's earlier film which I have seen is "suicide club" and more recent films "cold fish and why don't you play in hell" so judging by those other works I kind of knew what to expect with this film. True enough; it was another strange and surreal experience with some genuinely disturbing imagery. A weird fetish that gets you thinking of how hair can be an object of fear and dread. Adding to this is a very real and (separate) disturbing human drama and a completely unrelated attempt at over the top humour so you can visualize the kind of film this is. Even though this starts out as an intriguing piece, the ending does not compare to the rest. Still I wouldn't say that I didn't enjoy this just that the climax of the film wasn't worthy. With a great cast and acting this is great for a rental.
