Spaceballs review

I came across this hilarious movie in a secondhand shop (really cheap) and I couldn't resist buying it as I had fond memories of watching it on TV in my youth. Imagine my surprise upon watching this DVD when I realized how much the TV version was censored. There were jokes in this version that were new to me and the language was harsher in this version from what I remember. Being older (and wiser) now than before I was able to understand most if not all the jokes better...I mean who can forget the classic "how many assholes are on this ship?". Anyway, after seeing this again I can honestly say that I had a blast and a better appreciation of the subject matter. It definitely was better than the TV version that I had seen and recorded onto VHS cassette (remember those??).  On a slightly more personal note, in my opinion this was one of Mel Brooks better films although "young Frankenstein" was a close second. From what I've read on-line, this was one of the more costlier films for Brooks and understandably so as it was a spoof of an already great cult icon of a sci-fi film franchise ("star wars" if you have to know) among other nods and references to other well known films. If like me you have fond nostalgic memories then this is worth watching again.
