It saddens me to see such a historical legend turned into a highly stylised piece of fanatical fiction with mystical creatures from popular Japanese folklore: a slap in the face of history that's what it is. However, historical inaccuracies aside it is fun while it lasts that is if you can look past the majority of the actors broken English and a tacked on love story. Even the impressive cast cannot save this picture from what it is. On brighter side of things the costumes are of worthy note, rich in detail and interesting. I can't believe I'm going to say this but will go ahead and mention that the CGI is not up to the rest of the film standards and feels more like rejects from other movies. Demons, witches and half breeds round up this movie so all historical accuracy goes out the window. More of a fun and fictional piece bearing the name "47 ronin" and naught else. Don't think....just watch and enjoy.
