Came across this in a store and thought that it looked interesting. Was surprised at how low the price was; was even more surprised when asked person at counter for his opinion of the film to which he replied in the negative going on to say that reviews were not good either. Intrigued, I thought that I'd chance it and what's a quid nowadays anyway. Wow...just wow! man am I glad that I bought this, it's epic on every scale. I guess the people who reviewed this were never history buffs or even read "the art of war" by Sun Tzu. The level of strategy and cunning shown in this movie defies belief. Most will see nothing but sheer ruthlessness and on-screen brutality but as history has shown, wars were brutal but unlike the modern wars, it used to be no nonsense, in your face and savage brutality (not pretty but its a fact). The story is very engaging even though you know of the outcome. Yes, if you're not clued up on the facts then you'll be hard pressed to distinguish between the characters and to what and why of the goings on. A film for history buffs or those who appreciate good strategy.
