252 signal of life review

‎This Japanese made  film was nothing special and to be quite honest I wouldn't watch it again. However, for its entire duration I was glued to the screen and did enjoy it. Painfully slow to get started and a bit dragging at times it still was better than the similarly themed Hollywood film "2012" maybe because I am more taken by stories than special effects. For those of you who are confused by the title, 252 is a code meaning "survivors awaiting rescue" in Japan. The movie shows how far rescue teams are prepared to go in doing their jobs. It also weaves a pretty realistic yarn about the survivors themselves adding a pulse to the story. Now for the CGI fan boys and girls among you; yes Japanese effects are somewhat behind those of what Hollywood films can do but most mainstream movies follow a simple and straightforward storyline with heart thrown in for  good measure whereas many foreign films have twisting plots with reality based factual events. That is my take anyway...agree or not. if you have the patience of watching a 2 hour 10 minutes slow build-up movie then by all means see this otherwise just stick with  the norm.
