What can I say about this film without spoiling it? Well for starters I felt very uneasy from the get go. I suppose it's down to the fact that when you see something as perfect as to be "too good to be true', your mind kinda goes "hang on" and rebels. All throughout this film I was uneasy and at times I even wished for a fast-forward button as some scenes were especially hard to watch. Maybe it was just me who had a love/hate relationship with this movie as the majority of people in the cinema (judging from their conversations) didn't like this. I was also in the dark about this movie as had I known who the director was, I would have known what to expect. Eli Roth's other films were violence for the sake of violence and didn't hit me as hard as this one did. it is not very violent. All niggles aside; director Eli Roth drags you kicking and screaming into a very well written but totally dark and psychotic side of human nature where laws that are supposed to protect us are turned upside down and work against us. To say any more would likely give away the movie's many twists and surprises. I will say that the actors and actresses did a superb job of making it all believable. A good film but more of an acquired taste.
