Wolfman review

I don't know what the people who said to me that this movie was a great disappointment were smoking as I really enjoyed it. I remember watching the original on TV many years ago (yes...im old) and the effects for that film for the time were ground breaking and were still impressive forty years on. This movie can be said to be an update of the original, improving on the effects as well as the story. OK, the story isn't very original but the movie does ooze of mysteriousness. After I watched this movie I was very impressed with  Benicio  Del Toro’s acting (he portrays his role very well) as well as Emily Blunt and the great Anthony Hopkins who also give great performances. In fact, all the acting in this  was very believable. As much as I dislike modern CGI effects I have to admit that if done properly it definitely adds to the pleasure of watching. An added plus point (in my book) is that the werewolf/wolfman design is as close to the original as modern technology could allow. It could have been a total disaster but Rick Baker managed to pull it off without too much CGI augmentation and for that he deserves credit. Some will find this movie too slow for their tastes and some will outright hate this but for me this is nothing short of a Gothic fine piece of cinema.
