Home sweet hell review

Basically a dark comedy but in my opinion "home sweet hell" lives up to its name and is a vision of hell within a (seemingly) normal family. Upon initial viewing one would be fooled into thinking that this is a perfect family; living the dream and is most likely to stumble across various comedic hiccups. Reads like a normal comedy doesn't it? That is until the darkness begins to seep through. Any sane person would see this kind of family life as the ultimate of living nightmares....nothing you can do or even think of doing. Maybe I've read too much into this (it is meant to be a comedy after all) and for some people this would be a rib-tickler. So the acting: both leads are believable in a funny sort of way and come off as (sometimes) exaggerated and even cartoony in a way. There is also a memorable performance by Jim Belushi (K9) but is not a very big part. Add to all this various twists and turns and you get a reasonably entertaining film but nothing really spectacular. A rental at best.
