Turbo kid review

Always good to see a film that pays homage to the good old 80s when times were simpler and political correctness wasn't an issue. An extremely cheesy movie if I say so myself but also very enjoyable to watch. The story is nonsense of course but as it never pretends otherwise, is not an issue. It's more a means to an end to allow lots of over-the-top bloody action and violence and characters who are decked out in some great outfits. It's fast-paced and, most importantly, it never forgets that its principle objective is to entertain. There are a couple of twists that you will not see coming and many over the top gore happenings that is sure to appease all you gore hounds out there (you know who you are). Movies featuring an apocalyptic wasteland are more common now than before but it still is interesting to see throwbacks to the 80s and how modern technology can handle it (in this case, it is the late 90s). The closest way that I can think to compare this movie is to the mad max films (cool in their own way). A true popcorn movie; mostly to pelt at the screen in good humour and a fun way to spend 90 minutes.
