Alexander review

A historical based movie from Hollywood (surprise surprise) but is it any good? Being accustomed to Japanese/Korean historical epics; this is actually a good effort from director Oliver Stone (OK so it's not great). Stone's other films like "natural born killers, U-turn" and the like were films that had a powerful message and certain scenes stuck with you long after the films were finished (actually should review both films) but with this film it was more of a hit or miss affair. Like I said before: it was a good effort...good cast and believable acting. Starts off with an epic battle (if you're watching  the re-release) which is as brutal as you can imagine. Colin Farrell in the lead looks a bit camp with his blonde hair complete with eye-liner but not "camp" as in "camp-camp" but more of a complex relationship type camp (if that makes sense). Angelina Jolie plays a role as only she can (suits her to a T in my opinion) and there is even a surprisingly good performance by Rosario Dawson. It gets more and more intense as it goes on almost to the point of WTF. Anyway, this movie will not be to every ones taste but is still worth a watch. I would say that this is worth at least a rental and while you are watching, watch with a mature mind and not with a teenage one.
