Proxy wars review

Its been almost two months since my last review of the yakuza papers saga and after a considerable wait from you guys my review of the third instalment is finally here (hooray). I take it that you readers would have seen the first two instalments and while the first film "Battles without honour and humanity" would sum up the lifestyle of the yakuza perfectly and the second film "deadly fight in Hiroshima" covers the teething problems of the different organizations and show realistic brutality and not shy away, this third film pales (somewhat) in comparison to the first two. I'm not saying that this is a bad movie: quite the opposite in fact but it does tone down the complexity of the plot and mixes seriousness with comedic elements. Its actually enjoyable and for a newcomer to these iconic films; doesn't require essential viewing of the first two. Introducing new families (or gangs if you like) who somewhere along the lines have forgotten what honour really means. I will say that I did enjoy this movie as it didn't require much concentration from me like the first two (no repeat viewings) but I did also find it quite sad seeing brashness from the new members whereas the old ones try to hold everything together. A film which unlike the predecessors will not require repeated viewings but still a fun way to spend 2 hours.
