Changeling (2008) review

Another film by director Clint Eastwood and like most of his other films, this shares a similar theme. Even though this film gives out moral lessons I must say that this one had me cringing the most while watching. Eastwood and Ron Howard are fast becoming my favourite directors from Hollywood: rubbing shoulders with other foreign directors and in some ways, surpassing them. Reason being is their choice of scripts and the excellent way they can tell stories. This movie was also a rollercoaster ride of emotions and when you find out that it's based on a true event....BANG...more of an impact. For me it was all the more impressive as it was a showing of what America looked and behaved in the early 1920s. Angelina Jolie's portrayal of Christine Collins is an excellent performance (also see her in "Alexander")  as is actor John Malkovich.  Should also mention the attention to detail namely in the costumes, the environment....well in just about everything actually. Saw this after another Eastwood movie (which I will review also) and both films were a tug on the ol' emotions. A superbly done suspense drama which is more than capable of rivaling most period (foreign) dramas I have seen. This should be seen by everyone out there but a word to the wise, it's not for casual viewing.
