Love exposure review

The Japanese sure do come out with some (wonderfully) weird stuff. Now I have seen one of director Sion Sono's previous work ("EXTE" if you're curious) and others I haven't got around to yet and judging from his previous film, I kinda knew what to expect.  I use the term "kinda" loosely because this film.....it was just plain weird. Starts off as any other teenage movie and takes you on a wild (acid) trip from there. I'm not a stranger when it comes to Japanese/Korean humour but in this case this even surpasses that and is in a league of its own. Coming at an impressive 4 hours in running time it is for all intents and purposes an enjoyable ride; however weird it may be. A bit of everything is thrown in, from comedy elements down to drama and in all honesty: when you get down to watching it you don't want it to end. Yes it is a strange film but strange in a good way and I am now more curious to see if Sion Sono's other films are of the same nature. This is a film that you need to see for yourselves as no review will do it justice. Even though I saw it over a period of weeks, I wouldn't have minded to see it in one sitting. Highly recommended.
