Bang Rajan review

An impressive film inits own right but overshadowed by other films like "Musa the warrior" "battle of wits" among other films. Not saying that this isn't a good film; in fact to the best of my knowledge this is the first and only "large scale" film I have seen coming out of Thailand. Even though (when watching) the on-screen personalities are not given enough screen time to make you care for them, towards the end of the film you do have mixed emotions aimed at most of the cast most notably in the funeral pyre scene. As stated in the beginning of this film: "this is a true story of a Thai legend"...a period of history well known to the locals and in that sense the impact of this film on the Thai film industry as a whole must be taken as a credit. If one is not to compare this film to other similar films that came after then this is definitely worth a watch. In closing I must give a HUGE 2 thumbs up to premier Asia for releasing this lesser known epic. Watch but do not compare to other films in genre.
