Idiots and angels review

I had never heard of this movie until it was recommended to me by a friend. OK so after watching this I can say with 100 percent certainty that it's not just the Japanese who can be weird. Seriously though; when I began watching this I was like "wow what a weird acid trip this is going to be". This was because the animation was a bit strange (to put it mildly). Lets just say that it took a while to get used to. Anyway, about the movie...if (like I did) you can get past the first ten minutes or so then there is a good story here, however strange it may be but it is a fun trip. Oh and did I mention that it is an entirely visual experience with no dialog whatsoever? Best way to describe the animation would be to compare it to a (also very good and trippy) Nintendo DS game called "hotel dusk" in which the pictures were static but the flickering of colours gave the illusion of movement. If you have played that game then you kinda know what to expect. I was surprised at myself for enjoying this film....especially for the art style used which is unique in my opinion. There are multiple messages you can get from this but basically it just boils down to good, evil and greed. Would I watch this again?? I would like to say yes but one viewing is enough for me or maybe if I had a like minded date then I might revisit this. This is worth a rental rather than a purchase or if you can find it for a couple of pounds, might be worth the price. Watch sober.
