Arrival review

Very few movies nowadays are interesting enough to hold my attention. Could be that I prefer good story telling over the embezzlement of multi-million dollars (or pounds) of WOW factors that sacrifice storytelling to put bums in seats at the local cineplex. Anyway, this film was a welcome break from the norm; I'm not saying that it didn't have the multi-million dollar budget for the wow factor (which it did in abundance) but it also went down the ways of old and turned out a good and compelling story. With a cast of well known named actors who know how to act and the surprising revelation of the two main leads who turn out a stellar performance (who said Adams can't act?) this film is an intriguing watch from start to finish. If a movie like this came out every once to twice a month then cinemas would be back in fashion with a vengeance. Even though I dislike watching trailers: I must say that "Sully" with Tom Hanks has piqued my interest and has a date in my calendar. For what it's worth, I daresay that filmmakers have come to the realization that movie-goers aren't just mindless drones and do like to exercise the ol' gray matter from time to time. Something I saw on "the Simpson's" springs to mind...movie awards shouldn't just go to a clip of a guy getting hit by a football but take into account the intellect of a movie also.
